Thinking of Place: Curatorial Team:
The Thinking of Place project originated with a small group of Australian and New Zealand artists who met at the Impact 8 International Print Conference in Dundee, Scotland, in 2013. Antonietta Covino-Beehre, James Pasakos, Laurel McKenzie and Prue MacDougall were amongst the group who conceived the idea of working together to create a project that provided opportunities for creative exchange between their geographically dispersed print media groups.
We have continued to work together, with an expanding global network of participating artists, to create an extensive touring exhibition program. The project is entirely artist-run and self-funding. It brings a rich array of conceptually ambitious works in a range of traditional and innovative print media to new audiences in multiple locations.

James Pasakos
Thinking of Place Biography:
James Pasakos, artist/curator, his works embody transformation, reflecting deeply personal experiences that explore the shifting nature of identity and cultural belonging. Drawing from his own heritage and lived environment, he examines how individual and collective identities evolve within changing social and cultural landscapes. His ongoing 2D practice intertwines memory, place, and identity, creating visual narratives that connect personal history to broader cultural and industrial contexts. The enduring presence of the Melbourne Docklands and its refineries, symbols of labour, migration, and change, serves as both muse and metaphor. Through these industrial forms, Pasakos reimagines the relationship between self and place, where traces of memory and cultural background intersect with the raw materiality of the landscape. In 2012, he founded the Goldfields Printmakers, fostering regional, national and international collaboration and cultural dialogue. Pasakos, is a Lecturer - Course Coordinator | Bachelor of Visual Arts, Arts Academy, Federation University Australia W: http://www.jamespasakos.com/ IG: jpasakos FB: jamespasakos |
