Thinking of Place
Thinking of Place III was conceived as a collaborative project bringing together new works from over 80 artists across 16 printmaking groups in 9 countries. Originally accepted for presentation at the Impact II International Printmaking Conference in Hong Kong (scheduled for 2020 and postponed to 2021), the project was delayed due to pandemic restrictions that prevented many artists from accessing their studios. Despite these challenges, almost all participants completed and submitted their editioned prints, and the project was successfully realised.
Our proposal for Impact 12 in Bristol, UK (September 2022), was later accepted as a group exhibition. Over the extended timeframe, many artists reimagined their responses to the theme of place, reflecting shifting perceptions of space, belonging, and identity. Others maintained a focus on local stories and histories. Representing a rich diversity of print media and artistic perspectives, Thinking of Place III strengthened international connections among printmaking communities worldwide.
