Thinking of Place
ToP II
The initial Thinking of Place project was expanded to include artists from print groups in Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Canada For Thinking of Place ii. 63 artists from 8 groups responded to the question: ‘How do memories attach to place, and is the concept of place confined to a particular time?’ Artists interpreted the theme with concepts of land, the environment, colonisation, ancestral connections, identity in association with geography, and imagined places – a spectrum of encounters with personal narratives, journeys and associations with ‘place’.
The project represents an ambitious cultural exchange. It forged global connections between artists, and their works were presented to new audiences at these locations:
Biblioteca Central de Cantabria, part of IMPACT 10 International Printmaking Conference in Santander, Spain, in September 2018.
